Experiment reveals strategic thinking in mice

by Phys.org

Phys.org— Are mice clever enough to be strategic? Kishore Kuchibhotla, a Johns Hopkins University neuroscientist who studies learning in humans and animals, and who has long worked with mice, wondered why rodents often performed poorly in tests when they knew how to perform well. With a simple experiment, and by acting as "a little bit of a mouse psychologist," he and his team figured it out.

TheBlaze—Revealing Reagan's Strategic Defense Initiative Debates. When former President Ronald Reagan embraced the idea of a missile defense system, he called it the Strategic Defense Initiative. While it ended up being a great success, it was initially attacked by the Democrats, who nicknamed SDI “Star Wars.” “They mocked him, they tried to humiliate him,” Mark Levin explains.“We didn’t have that technology 40-some years ago, and so the reprobates who only think about now, now, now, they said it couldn’t be done,” Levin continues. “During the budget processes...

Drudge Report—Lab mice are get their own back by deliberately messing up experiments. Who is experimenting on whom? (Picture: Getty) Laboratory mice are deliberately making mistakes during experiments and annoying the scientists watching them.  The humble lab mouse has been used in tests for hundreds of years, but it seems like the small rodents have been carrying out their own experiments, as they do not always perform as expected.  Now it seems this isn’t just scientific anomaly, but a concerted effort by the mice to mess things up.
