The meteorological bureau KNMI issued a code yellow warning for the whole country, with the worst storms forecast to hit the coastal provinces between 2pm and 5pm. Schiphol airport has been reduced to one runway because of the wind direction, with gusts of 75 to 100 km/h forecast during the afternoon. Thundery showers and hailstorms are also forecast.
