A tornado watch has been issued for Cass County and other counties in west-central and southwest Iowa by the National Weather Service until 9 p.m. today (Friday, April 26).
A springtime storm system that will exit the Rockies and develop over the Plains during the workweek will trigger numerous showers and thunderstorms. Thursday’s severe weather threat zone will be centered over Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. On Friday, threats for hail, damaging winds and tornadoes are expected to be centered over Iowa, Missouri and Illinois.

Communities in the central U.S. are bracing for another round of severe storms this week in the wake of a devastating tornado outbreak over the weekend. Omar Villafranca reports from the disaster zone.
