Texas judge rules against AG Ken Paxton’s lawsuit that would halt Harris County guaranteed income program

Houston Public Media— Paxton sued Harris County for implementing a guaranteed income program, called Uplift Harris, which would give $500 a month to nearly 2,000 low income households over an 18-month period.

The Texas Supreme Court blocked Harris County's guaranteed income program on Tuesday, as the first round of checks were being sent out to low-income families. Judge Lina Hidalgo said the state has known about the program for over a year.

Houston Public Media—Appeals court denies Ken Paxton’s attempt to block Harris County guaranteed income program. Last week a judge denied Paxton's claim that Uplift Harris violated the Texas Constitution. He appealed that decision and it was denied on Monday.
