Cleanup is able to finally get underway in St Landry Parish from the two tornadoes that touched down two weeks ago.
St. Landry Parish’s Community Action Agency is setting the goal to assist anyone in the parish that struggles with getting to a destination thanks to their free transportation service.
A suburban catholic school is closing after more than 60 years.
St. Landry Parish investigator Spencer Cornette said the littering issue has continued to get worse over the past five years and has created not only a safety concern for drivers, but also an environmental hazard.
The school is scheduled to reopen on Friday, April 26, according to the school’s Facebook post.
Parish President Jessie Bellard said Governor Jeff Landry has signed an emergency declaration allowing the parish to use state resources to clean debris across the parish.
Kelly Guidry was shot in January 2021 on the corner of N. Market and Cheney Streets and would die from his injuries that night at a local hospital. The two shooters would be identified by law enforcement as Chenier and Figaro.
Schools and facilities will resume normally on Tuesday, April 30.
