Parents are being warned — once again — not to purchase recalled Boppy
The Boppy Newborn Lounger, a popular infant pillow recalled nearly two years ago, has now been linked to at least 10 babies’ deaths since 2015, federal regulators said Tuesday. More than 3 million Boppy loungers were recalled in September 2021 after the Consumer Product Safety Commission received reports of babies’ suffocating in them. A warning to the owners of 143,000 Lincoln MKC Compact SUV’s.
At least 10 babies died after being placed on a Boppy lounger. Boppy recalled the product in 2021, but U.S. safety regulators say it's still being sold on Facebook.
Officials are urging people to stop using the lounger, and asking online marketplaces to regulate attempts to re-sell it, two years after the recall.
An NBC News investigation last month found that baby loungers were associated with more deaths than federal regulators had previously announced.
The loungers were sold in stores such as Amazon, Pottery Barn Kids, Target and Walmart from January 2004 to September 2021. A total of 10 deaths have been linked to the product.
The products were first recalled in September 2021.
