Police officer seriously injured in construction accident in Billerica

CBS News— BILLERICA - A police officer was seriously injured in a construction accident on Boston Road in Billerica Friday afternoon. The officer was hit by an excavator while working a detail. The officer was transported to Lahey Hospital. The road has been closed to traffic in both directions. A crew from N. Granese & Sons based in Salem was putting down a water line when it happened. More information is expected to be released by investigators Friday evening.

A man has been transported to hospital in serious condition after police say he jumped on the subway tracks at Sherbourne Station while attempting to flee from officers. According to police, officers were called to the downtown subway station at around noon for reports that a man was assaulting a woman on the subway platform. The man, police allege, fled from responding officers and jumped on the tracks, where he sustained an injury. It is not yet clear how the man was injured. ...
