What a tough task it was to come up with this photo gallery from Ropery Walk Primary School. And that’s because the Sunderland Echo archives were filled with dozens more great images from the Seaham school. It was a difficult job to narrow down the selection but here’s a great mix of football in 2005, curling in 2007, water drumming in 2008 and smoothie making in 2016.
Esteury Ruiz homered for the second time in three games since being recalled from Triple-A, and the Oakland Athletics beat the St. Louis Cardinals 6-3 on Wednesday to avoid a three-game sweep. Ruiz drove in two runs, scored twice and stole a base. The A’s, who have announced plans to play in Sacramento from 2025-27 while a new ballpark is built in Las Vegas, have had an average attendance of 6,244 through their first 13 home games.
Gauchos sweep CS Fullerton to move to 17-0 at home this year
Ceddanne Rafaela homered and drove in seven runs, and Tyler O’Neill also went deep as the Boston Red Sox routed the Chicago Cubs 17-0 on Saturday. The 23-year-old Rafaela was asked if he could recall a time when he amassed seven RBIs in a game. The Red Sox established single-game season bests at home with runs and 21 hits.
