WASHINGTON (KTVZ) -- Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden, D-Ore., issued a statement this week after the Biden administration finalized several rules aimed at improving health care for Americans in nursing homes, those receiving home and community-based services through Medicaid, as well as updates to Medicaid-managed care to strengthen health services covered by these plans:

Reading Eagle—Biden administration sets higher staffing mandates. Most nursing homes don’t meet them. The rules primarily address staffing levels for three types of nursing home workers. Registered nurses, or RNs, are the most skilled and responsible for guiding overall care and setting treatment plans.

@Marketplace—New federal rule on minimum staffing for nursing homes takes effect. Until now, the only staffing rule for nursing homes has been that they have “sufficient” staff, without specifying what that means.
