Nontraditional UI student awarded $30,000 Truman Scholarship

ABC Columbia—Claflin University awards $20,000 scholarships to 15 elementary school students. The fourth and fifth graders took part in an "MLK Oratory Competition" -- reciting a three to five minute long speech from memory.

The Monitor—Brownsville Navigation District awards $32,000 in scholarships to seniors. Thirty-two graduating high school seniors from Brownsville area public and private high schools each will receive $1,000 scholarships through the Brownsville Navigation District’s 2024 Port of Brownsville Scholarship program.
