Louisiana Legislature advances bill to protect IVF treatments

KLFY— A Louisiana lawmaker wants to put protections in place for doctors in Louisiana after the Alabama Supreme Court ruled that embryos fertilized in IVF treatments that don’t become viable pregnancies could count as wrongful deaths.

The Federalist—Louisiana Republicans, Democrats Advance Bill Granting Immunity For Killing Embryos. Two bills grant broad immunity to the IVF industry, and HB 833 redefines the word 'embryo' to remove references to an 'unborn child.'

KLFY—Louisiana Senate advances bill to ban using cell phones on public roads while driving. A bill that would prohibit the use of any form of a cellular device while driving on public roads has passed the Senate. According to SB98, using a cell phone while driving on any roadway in Louisiana would become illegal.

Arkansas Times—Crypto regulation bills advance out of House committee. As a House committee took up two crypto bills -- co-sponsored by the same senators that pushed through the law last year they're now trying to fix -- one lawmaker summed it up: "This is almost an embarrassing situation."
