Kroger, Albertsons announce plans to sell hundreds more stores to gain merger approval

Salon.com— The FTC sued to block the $25 billion merger between two of the country's largest supermarket chains.

Chicago Tribune—Kroger and Albertsons propose selling off more Illinois stores in bid for merger approval. Under federal scrutiny over their plans to merge, the grocery giants said Monday they will sell off about 20 more Illinois grocery stores than originally planned.

The Arizona Republic—Kroger backtracks: It now plans to sell most Albertsons stores in Arizona in $25B merger. Kroger has changed its stance on selling Albertsons and Safeway supermarkets, as part of the $24 billion merger. Now it plans to sell off most stores.
