STORY: The National Weather Service declared a flash flood emergency in the city around midday that lasted for hours as numerous roads became impassable. Some areas in the region reported up to eight inches of rain, while the NWS reported multiple suspected tornadoes throughout southern Louisiana.The rain and severe weather was expected to ease by early Thursday as the storm system moves away.
