Wellsville Local School District has hired a new superintendent replacing Richard Bereschik who is retiring after 50 years as an educator.
Brian Knight will begin the position on August 1, a school spokesperson confirmed.
The New Mexico School Superintendent Association along with multiple schools and their superintendents have filed a lawsuit in Curry County against the New Mexico Public Education Department in regard to the departments implementation of its new administrative rule, School Instructional Time Requirements.
In both cases, the leaders chosen to lead PCC and PUSD had been interim leaders for months, as their respective boards pursued someone to fill the top jobs.
The new OW High School will be built on 90 acres off of Cooke Road. The two-story building houses up to 1,600 students and will cost around $125 million.
