The Danish Energy Agency on Monday launched its biggest tender for the construction of offshore wind farms, aimed at producing six gigawatts by 2030 -- more than double Denmark's current capacity.
The sector will achieve “liftoff” when “it is actively contributing to decarbonization targets, with a sustained project pipeline and regular deployment,” the Energy Department said.
But that will extend a project’s lead time, “which is difficult for federal and state policies if people are trying to get these projects deployed as fast as possible,” Ørsted Americas CEO David Hardy said.
The three canceled projects represented 4 GW of provisionally awarded capacity.
