An appeal has gone out from the Edinburgh International Book Festival for people to contribute memories of Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and its old home at Lauriston Place. They are planning a writing project, Words from the Wards, at this summer’s Book Festival because it is going to be based for the first time at the Royal Infirmary’s old site, which is now home to Edinburgh University’s Edinburgh Futures Institute. Two men have been charged in connection with a “serious assault” on a busy Edinburgh street. An investigation was launched by the police after a 49-year-old man was allegedly attacked on Charlotte Square on Sunday 7 April at around 4.50pm. A man has been rushed to hospital following an alleged serious assault in Edinburgh as one person has been arrested. A large police presence was seen on Gorgie Road around 4.25pm on Monday, April 15, following reports of an attack.
