Eight cargo ships have been stuck in the Port of Baltimore for weeks. Now, several are on their way — and back to business.
The ambitious makeover of the Baltimore port enabled the port last year to process record numbers of cargo, but also tied the city’s fortunes to giant oceangoing vessels that some warned were prone to accidents.
"It was like, 'OK, this is a horrific event. And how are we going to recover from this?'" says Dawn Speakman, founder of Drayage Solutions in Baltimore.
